Hello!

I’m Julia Rebecca Miron (pronounced Myron) and I’m a messy meditator.

What does that even mean? It means we can take the pressure off of both of us to be perfect and embrace the messiness of being human.

Fifteen years ago, I was introduced to mindfulness, and honestly? It completely changed—and even saved—my life in ways I never expected. The transformation was so profound that I felt called to share what I’d learned with others, in the hope it might help them. as it helped me.

Since then, I’ve taught various mindfulness classes and other workshops over the years. And as of August 2023, I’m qualified by Brown University to teach the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program.

Along with mindfulness, I’m also a certified Speaking Circles® Facilitator and a Writer. My writing has been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul- The Power of Yes!

Currently, I offer general mindfulness classes, individual sessions, MBSR, and I have a lot more in the works.

Stick with me and you’ll be a messy meditator in no time!

What is Mindfulness?

You may be wondering what mindfulness is and how it's different from meditation. So here's the deal… There are tons of different types of meditation, and mindfulness is one kind. But mindfulness isn’t just meditation, it’s also a way of living.

Mindfulness means intentionally paying attention to the present moment, without judgment.

We do that in meditation by focusing on one single body sensation (traditionally the breath, but there are other options). This is what keeps us anchored to the present moment. And whenever our mind wanders or gets caught up in thoughts, we just gently bring our attention back to that anchor.

The whole point of practicing mindfulness meditation is to strengthen the parts of our brain that can keep us present when life be lifing

In other words, being present can help us to be more aware of, well, everything. The choices we make, the ways we respond to the world around us and the people around us, even the foods we eat and the things we do with our time.

There are a lot of benefits to practicing mindfulness, including stress reduction, improved memory, increased focus, less emotional reactivity, and enhanced self-insight, intuition, and compassion.
